This week’s Amplify Respect was all about creating narratives for yourself to demonstrate learning, growth, and change. What narratives are important to who you are as a person? Or, what narratives are holding you back?
I’m trying out Substack’s discussion thread feature, so, if you are inspired to do so, please discuss!
I'll start! One of my positive narratives is I think of myself as a professional martial artist. I am dedicated to continuing practice, and even if I'm having a bad day or feeling a little painful I still push myself to see what I can do safely on the mat. I wouldn't do the same for, say, bike riding (sorry to the bike riding friends).
My main holding-me-back narrative is thinking I'm not good enough, not qualified, not wanting to reach out past my comfort zone. I fight this narrative constantly, sometimes I win, sometimes it wins.
